Andrew Rose      

Andrew Rose is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institute of Measurement and Control.

Andrew has worked for a major UK airline for 17 years, starting as an Engineering apprentice before gaining a Masters Degree in Control, Instrumentation and Systems Engineering from City University, London.  From 1992 to 2001 he worked in various roles within the Avionic Standards and Design areas, concentrating on the specification, design and on-going development of major avionic systems in commercial aircraft.

During that period he was responsible for the installation design,  standards and development of Air Traffic Surveillance Equipment, Satellite Communications (Satcom) and Navigation systems and managed the Airline's Aircraft Collision Avoidance Systems (ACAS) programme.

Whilst in the Standards Department Andrew held UK CAA delegated Design Authority for the approval of aircraft modifications and for a number of years chaired the Airlines Electronic Engineering Committee Airborne Separation Assurance Systems Subcommittee which developed equipment characteristics for ACAS and Enhanced Mode S Transponders.  He also represented the Airline at a wide range of technical and policy forums both within Europe and the USA and was responsible for a number of major studies and investigations for both the Airline and other organisations.

Andrew now works part-time in the Airline Air Safety department and maintains his engineering skills and experience with Llanbury Consulting.
